Elon Musk, SpaceX & Tesla CEO, created the concept of Hyperloop while stuck in traffic. Him and a team of his engineers quickly designed the system under the white paper Hyperloop Alpha in July 2012. The concept is for the supersonic speed transportation of passengers and cargo in transportation pods though partial vacuum tubes.  This soon became accepted as the "fifth mode of transportation”.

Since they first unveiled the idea for a new high-speed ground transport system called the Hyperloop back in 2013, there has been a tremendous amount of interest in the concept.

While they are not developing a commercial Hyperloop themselves, they are interested in helping to accelerate development of a functional Hyperloop prototype.

The full Hyperloop system is meant to be:

  • Immune to weather

  • Collision free

  • Twice the speed of a plane

  • Low Power Consumption

  • Energy Storage for 24 hour applications.
